JTHOA COPS

C.O.P.S. (Community Oriented Police Service) is Gwinnett County’s Neighborhood Watch Program and Jackson’s Township is proud to have been selected in 2010 by the Police Department to be an official neighborhood in the program.

Through this program, the Jackson’s Township C.O.P.S. committee works with homeowner’s and a designated C.O.P.S. Officer to make our subdivision as safe as possible.  All homeowners are encouraged to report any incident that they find suspicious by calling 911.  It is important for everyone to be diligent while traveling around the neighborhood.

 

The program offers different opportunities for our neighborhood to learn more about safety.  There is also an Annual C.O.P.S. Festival held in the fall that offers residents a chance to learn more about the following subjects:

  • Personal Safety

  • Home Safety (Locks, Alarms, Etc.)

  • Child Safety (30 minutes)

  • Senior Citizen Safety

  • Child Safety for Parents

  • Gang Awareness for Teens and Parents

  • Drug Awareness for Teens and Parents

  • Sexual Assault Prevention

  • Domestic Abuse/Family Violence

  • Consumer Fraud and Scams

  • Safe Driving in Gwinnett

  • Firearm Safety for Adults

  • Robbery/Shoplifting Prevention

  • Teen Safe Driving

Crime Prevention

The ultimate goal of crime prevention is to reduce the risk of being a victim. In order to accomplish this effectively, it is important to remove opportunities for a criminal to take advantage of you or your property.

 

Successful crime prevention efforts will promote a safer community. The MOST important thing YOU can do is CALL THE POLICE to report a crime or any suspicious activity.  You have to be the eyes and ears of your neighborhood.  And remember, you can always remain a pair of anonymous eyes!

 

Here are some helpful links and tips for crime prevention in our community:

On VACATION?  When leaving town, have a trusted friend or neighbor take care of your home.  NEVER cancel general deliveries such as mail, newspapers and other services.  But don’t let those newspaper deliveries pile up either.

 

If you will be away for an extended period, arrange to have a neighbor cut your lawn, bring in the mail, alter lighting on-off times, etc.  If you can, also have them move your car in the driveway so it appears you are still coming and going as usual.  Never leave your porch light on ONLY when you go on vacation.  This tells a thief, come on in….we’re on vacation!

ARE YOU INVOLVED?  Help your neighbors and your community leaders in preventing crime in our neighborhood.  Attend the Home Owners’ meetings to learn more about what can be done.

Code Enforcement

Gwinnett County Code Enforcement serves as a resource for residents by helping maintain the health, safety, and appearance of neighborhoods throughout unincorporated Gwinnett County. Code Enforcement works to address violations of county ordinances and promote community standards that protect property values and quality of life.

 

Common concerns addressed by Code Enforcement may include:

 

  • Accumulation of trash or debris

  • Overgrown grass and weeds

  • Junk or inoperable vehicles

  • Outdoor storage violations

  • Exterior property maintenance issues

  • Certain zoning and land use violations

 

Please note that Gwinnett County Code Enforcement enforces County ordinances and regulations. It does not enforce HOA covenants, restrictions, or community rules.
